Head Start PreSchool
Head Start Preschool programs focus on a three to five year old child’s development of a positive self-concept, sound learning skills, inclusive social attitudes, and heightened cognitive abilities.
The program provides developmentally appropriate learning experiences and activities that nurture growth and positive physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development to prepare the child for entry into kindergarten.
Center-based preschool options are structured as part-day/part-year programs or full-day/full-year programs.
The part-day option provides a three and one-half hour classroom experience each Monday through Thursday from September through May of the following year.
The full-day option serves families who are employed or in school by providing six and one-half hours of classroom experience for children throughout the year.
