ACCAP’s Home Ownership department provides a wide range of Home Ownership services to help households become and remain successful homeowners. Our experienced Housing Advisers will respectfully and confidentially review your situation so that you can choose the best option for your needs. We offer pre-purchase education in a group setting or 1 to 1 counseling, confidential financial education, post purchase support and foreclosure prevention.

1) Home Stretch – Pre-Purchase 

Home Buyer education and counseling helps low to moderate-income individuals and/or first time home buyers with step-by-step instructions to financial readiness and credit worthiness needed for mortgage loan approval. Our Home Stretch Workshops are offered monthly which include handouts, study guide and expert advice from industry professionals. Counseling includes 1 to 1 financial counseling, help with credit issues, budget planning and loan information. 

2) Financial Education – Counseling 

Financial education and 1 to 1 counseling helps low to moderate-income individual’s evaluate individuals budget, review of credit report and an action plan to help them become more self-sufficient.

3) Foreclosure Prevention – Post Purchase Counseling  

Foreclosure prevention and post purchase counseling helps residents who are having difficulties maintaining payments or are possibly facing default with their mortgage payments. We offer intervention counseling, negotiations with mortgages services, budget counseling to identify a workout solution. These programs help clarify options to stabilize the household finances to either stay in their home or transition to more affordable housing.

4) FAIM

Family Assets for Independence in MN (FAIM) is an Individual Development Account (IDA) program for low-income wage earners to gain assets through matched savings. You save earned income, which is matched $3 to your $1 of savings for 1 to 2 years toward a goal of home ownership, continued education or small business. FAIM also provides financial education and asset specific education.
